Outdoor Jenga Set

Outdoor Jenga

Jenga is a game we all know and love from our childhood. You know the one: pull the blocks out of the structure until it topples to the ground in a hilarious and memorable fashion. It sticks out because it’s fun, easy, and something everyone can play. Now, something has come to my attention recently that needs to be shared with the masses, and that is the creation of outdoor Jenga, a much larger version of the tabletop game to be played outside. Outdoor Jenga looks to be quite a ball, and with a little bit of ingenuity it can be created inexpensively from home.

It’s actually a fairly simple process, creating a DIY outdoor Jenga set. The standard Jenga setup requires 54 playing pieces so know that going in and purchase your materials accordingly. The easiest way to go about it is to head down to your local hardware store and snatch up a load of 2x4s. We recommend cutting the pieces 10.5” long as this will make the most sense when using 2x4s. Once the pieces are cut all you need is a flat surface to stack them on (remember, each layer requires you stack horizontally, then vertically) and the game is ready to be played.

Our Reviews of the Best Outdoor Jenga Sets

Jenga GIANT Premium Hardwood

Jenga GIANT Premium HardwoodFor those of you that don’t have the time or tools necessary to create your own set, there are a few alternatives as well. First off, Jenga makes a larger set to accommodate outdoor games. This set starts at 18” high and can get up to at least 3 feet. Like with all officially licensed products, you can be certain that the quality will be there as well at the reliability that the set will be built properly. Jenga has long been associated with fun and a larger set will only serve to emphasize that.

Giant Tumbling Timbers

Another option, and one that stands even taller than the Jenga set, is this option called Giant Tumbling Timbers. This game starts at two feet and can grow to over five (!) feet tall. This set comes with a large carrying case as well as it is meant to be taken to barbeques and anywhere outdoor fun is being had. It doesn’t come with the name recognition as an official Jenga set but serves the exact same purpose and will be just as much fun.

Mega Hi-Tower

Mega Hi-TowerFinally, for those of you really looking for a challenge we have the Mega Hi-Tower – Extra Tall 6ft set. This is the largest one of the three and starts at three feet and, as the name suggests, can reach up to six feet during game play. Like the Giant Tumbling Timbers set, this one comes with a large carrying case that makes it easy to take to parties and barbeques. It’s like the others, but with the increased intrigue of being able to get up to six feet.

All the options that can be purchased are well made and easy to maintain and carry around. What we like about this as a backyard game is that every person at any age can enjoy playing. The rules are simple and the suspense of Jenga or a stacked block game can’t be beat.

Final Thoughts on Backyard Jenga

As we pointed out, making your own set is quite easy as well. The steps are simple, and all you need is a little time and a trip down to the hardware store for a few 2x4s. Jenga never gets old, and will never go out of style. It’s a great way to spend time with family and friends and to share a few laughs.
